- 23:39 10/4/2026
Tối 10/4, Bộ Nội vụ vừa phát hành công văn thông tin về lịch nghỉ dịp Giỗ Tổ Hùng Vương, dịp lễ 30/4 - 1/5 năm 2026.

Official Dispatch No. 3383/BNV-CVL sent to Ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and government-attached agencies; and the People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), there has recently been information and public opinion regarding the possibility of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers taking an extended continuous break for the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day, Victory Day (April 30), and International Workers' Day (May 1) in 2026 by swapping working days with weekly days off.
Regarding this matter, the MHA provides the following information: The holiday schedule for these occasions in 2026 shall be implemented in strict accordance with the 2019 Labor Code. Currently, there is no policy to adjust the holiday schedule, and the MHA has not proposed any plan to swap working days to extend the break. Therefore, there is no arrangement for a continuous 9-day holiday during this period.
The MHA requests that Ministries, sectors, and localities continue to follow the holiday schedule as prescribed by the Labor Code. The MHA issues this notification for the awareness and coordinated implementation of all relevant entities.
Previously, on April 3, at the press conference for the 2026 Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health, Mr. Vu Trong Binh, Director General of the Department of Employment (MHA), stated that the 2026 holidays were approved by the Government and the MHA had issued a notification in October 2025.
"The process of implementing holidays under the Labor Code was conducted with consultations from central ministries, agencies, and trade unions at all levels. As of today, the Government and the MHA agree that there are no new policies regarding the 2026 holiday announcement," emphasized Mr. Vu Trong Binh.
However, on April 8, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) conducted a wide-scale survey of union members, civil servants, public employees, and workers regarding the holiday arrangement for the Hung Kings' Festival and the April 30 - May 1 period in 2026.
As of 7:00 AM on April 9, the survey recorded over 70,000 responses, with approximately 62% supporting the swap option (47.04% expressed they "highly desired" it; 14.82% "desired" it). This indicates that the majority of workers wish to swap working days for an extended holiday to rest, recuperate, and care for their families.
Therefore, this evening (April 10), the MHA officially released the notification regarding the 2026 holiday schedule for the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and the April 30 - May 1 holidays.
